Basis and limits
- Scale: 1–9 scale based on WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee body-condition resources.
- Context: 4–5/9 is the goal for most adult dogs and cats; below 4/9 and above 5/9 warrant context-aware nutritional screening, not an automatic diagnosis.
- Scope: this tool provides a quick scoring reference. It does not calculate ideal body weight, prescribe nutrition, or replace hands-on palpation training.
