Basis and limits
- Chronological age: exact time between birth date and evaluation date.
- Dog human-equivalent: based on size-adjusted aging curves. Small dogs age slower; giant dogs age faster. Approximate only.
- Cat human-equivalent: year 1 ≈ 15 human years, year 2 ≈ 24, then +4 per year. Approximate only.
- Life stages (dog): Puppy <1 yr, Adult 1–6 yr (small), 1–5 yr (large), Senior ~7 yr (small), ~6 yr (large), Geriatric ~10+ yr.
- Life stages (cat): Kitten <1 yr, Junior 1–2 yr, Prime 3–6 yr, Mature 7–10 yr, Senior 11–14 yr, Geriatric 15+ yr.
